Subaru Crosstrek tops list of cars with most crashes in U.S.

The 2019 Subraru Crosstrek was a top safety pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and yet this same car topped the list of 10 newer vehicles that have been involved in the most at-fault car crashes. Drivers in Florida may want to see if their vehicle has made the list, which is composed of one American, two Korean and seven Japanese cars.

The list was compiled by Insurify, the auto insurance comparison website, after it looked into its database of more than 1.6 million insurance quotes. Analysts found that accidents have affected 25.81% of all Crosstreks, followed by 25.7% of all Honda HR-Vs. Overall, accidents impacted 13.64% of the 10 vehicles listed.

In third place was the Hyundai Elantra GT, followed by the Infiniti Q50, Subaru WRX, Mazda3, Acura ILX, Lexus CT, Chevrolet Trax and Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. Among these vehicles, the WRX has the highest proportion of drivers who are ticketed for speeding offenses.

Despite seeing so many accidents, the Crosstrek is still a safe vehicle, having received top marks for crash avoidance and crashworthiness. Many crashes end with Crosstrek occupants walking away without major injuries. Insurify points out that many notable cars in the past have been much more dangerous and led to more fatalities.

Florida being a no-fault state, it’s important to take into account the severity of car accidents when victims want to seek compensation for their injuries and related losses. Victims are required to file with their own insurance company, but unless the crash has led to severe injuries or permanent disabilities, they cannot file a third-party insurance claim. This is where a legal consultation may come in handy. Victims may want to hire a lawyer for negotiations and litigation.
