Workers at risk of death at work

Some Florida workers may have a higher likelihood of dying on the job than other workers. According to a report released by the AFL-CIO, 5,190 people were killed while at work in 2016, an increase from the 4,836 fatalities that occurred in 2015. The report also stated that another 50,000 to 60,000 workers died as a result of occupational diseases. The primary cause of employees was transportation incidents.

How training can prevent grain engulfment

In Florida and across the U.S., workers in and around grain storage facilities are at a high risk for suffocation through grain engulfment. For this reason, OSHA has teamed up with the National Grain and Feed Association in an effort to raise awareness of the danger of grain engulfment and to prevent further deaths arising from it.

OSHA lists most common auto body shop safety violations

The most common health and safety citations issued to auto body shops in Florida and across the U.S. involve respiratory protection and hazard communication violations, according to statistics from the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The statistics include all citations issued by the agency between October 2016 and September 2017.
